Four recent experimental abstract works…mixed-media on panel, each 40x30cm.
Not sure what titles to use yet, so provisionally I’m referring to them as ‘Moorings 1 – 4’.
I enjoyed playing around with the balance of flowing muslin, taut string and stained tissue on a heavily textured background.
I’ll probably end up giving them a completely abstract title as I prefer viewers to be allowed to interpret them as they will.
Feedback appreciated as until now I haven’t produced much completely abstract work. Although I’ve been moving towards it for sometime. Thanks.
These are beautiful Mari – I like both the sense of movement and the textures very, very much. They remind me of cave paintings – something quite primeval – gorgeous!
Thanks Elaine. An interesting thought, the cave painting angle. I love hearing your insights!
I really like this new channel in your work which I think has great promise, I look forward to seeing much more of this in the future.
Thanks for your helpful feedback Ian. : )
Very different Mari
Thanks jean, I’ll still be producing more landscape-based or flower-based work from time to time. But it’s good to experiment – it loosens me up!
