…this is the first of several recent abstract experiments with ink and stained tissue on watercolour board that I am happy with. I like the subdued burgundy, brown and gold colours.
You might remember that I’ve used a similar technique for more representative landscape based pieces, also on watercolour board (click here).
This one is quite a small artwork but I think it may be one for framing at some point.
Can’t wait to see how you’ll use this technique in your Venice series!
Have ordered fancy (and hopefully more stable) papers – excited!
Where did you get your tissue Mari?
Thanks Elaine. I’ll post anything that works eventually. This one actually uses normal acid-free white tissue stained by me with acrylic inks.
I’ve ordered gampi tissue but am still waiting for it to turn up. Will let you know how I get on with it.
I am absolutely admiring, very admiring of your work. Inspiring, of course, but above all : a very powerful way to breathe more freely! Sincerely, JBP
Thank you! it’s great to get such good feedback. thanks for checking out my blog!
Wonderful layers of texture and marks. A very beautiful painting.
Many thanks Shelley, and for taking the time to look at my blog. : )
It looks awesome! Interesting technique too : )
thanks! I just need to work up the scale a bit – bigger versions would be a challenge but worth it. 🙂
