a blood-red shard like a dragon’s eye…
the sublime expression on a sun-moon visage…
the forgotten face of a young man…
… fragments of medieval stained glass.
a simple wooden chair on a polished flagstone floor takes on a calm presence in the low light of the circular bell tower …
… found imagery in the ancient church at Burnham Deepdale on the Norfolk coast.
Do you think that painted glass was done by the same hand?
It’s beautiful.
It looks like it doesnt it? Hard to say – the two windows in the church porch that these came from looked almost like they’d been made up of fragments from other windows. I must see if there’s any info in the church next time I’m passing. Norfolk has so many gorgeous, unspoilt, medieval churches.
Very lovely, Mari. This calls for a day out…… Helen
Thanks Helen. It makes for a nice few hours as you can pop across the road from the church to the Deepdale cafe and the several lovely shops around it. And then of course there’s the beach ;o)
Reads like poetry, very beautiful.
thank you Michelle, coming from a writer like yourself that is indeed a compliment!
